What should I do if I'm sick during holiday leave?

IMHO holiday sickness

Every week a Guardian Money reader submits a question, and it’s up to you to help him or her out – a selection of the best answers will appear in next Saturday’s paper.

This week’s question:

My Christmas and New Year were ruined by flu. I used up four days of my annual holiday entitlement basically recovering in bed. I regard it as just bad luck but my partner says I can legally demand it is marked as sick leave rather than holiday. But is that pushing it a bit? Would you think a colleague doing that was trying it on?

Do you have a problem readers could solve? Email your suggestions to money@theguardian.com or write to us at Money, The Guardian, Kings Place, 90 York Way, London N1 9GU
